With 4 Days To Go we bring you Maff Brown!

Maff Brown is returning the year to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival (after his debut 2010 show Looking After Lesal) with a concept that he has been pondering and building up over the year, giving it lots of thought and consideration, just being funny. Just stand-up. Jokes and gags. 50 minutes of stuff that will make you laugh.

Maff’s eclectic comedy CV has seen media appearances ranging from BBC6 Music to BBC 2’s Lead Balloon via warming up BBC 2’s Shooting Stars.

He is what is known as a comedian’s comedian, but that doesn’t mean you won’t like him, it just means that they have some really nice things to say about him…

“I think Maff Brown is very funny” Stephen Merchant.

“Maff is one of those comics that doesn’t need to try. Jokes fall out of him” Frank Skinner

“I’d sit near the exit if I were you” Jack Dee

“Brilliant stand-up. Great material” Bill Bailey

And look, here is some evidence that he actually knows Stephen Merchant

And, here are some lovely things said about his show at last years Fringe

“succeeds in raising roars of laughter from the audience” – Festmag.co.uk

“comedy the way it should be, leaves the audience wishing the show was just a little bit longer.” – EDFest

“Vastly entertaining, proves that this comedian have great things ahead of him.” – Three Weeks

“boundless energy and enthusiasm with funny material was certainly the icing on the cake.” – one4review.com

Only 5 Days and David O’Doherty is Looking Up!

As is evident from his press photos, this year at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, David O’Doherty is looking up

And in some ways that is very accurate, as after his recent stints hosting ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks‘ David’s profile is definitely on the rise, but to fans of his live comedy he is still the man who does stand-up sitting down, with an overly small yamaha keyboard perched on his lap.

David says this about his show this year…

Originally this was going to be a really, really stupid show. I’ve been working on books of made up facts about animals for the last two years and writing for children and delivering lots of scientific-sounding non-information at tour shows.

But over the winter a few things happened. I realized that quite a few of my friends are really struggling in the crappy Irish recession. I also got punched in the face by someone on the street for the second time in a year for no reason whatsoever.  So I’ve decided to try and talk about these things. It will still be mostly really stupid jokes, and songs played on a tiny keyboard, but also some things I think are quite important.

(And hopefully an updated version of this!)

David O’Doherty is an Edinburgh Fringe must see since winning The Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2008, his show at last years festival, ‘Somewhere over the David O’Doherty’ got some awesome press…

“This had the quality of instant magic being made.”

**** Chortle

“O’Doherty’s prowess in observational as well as unconventional comedy makes his performance a proper laugh-a-minute extravaganza”
***** Hairline

‘A national treasure’

Irish Times

And, so far this year his show has been picked as one to see in 2011 by Time Out, The List, and London is Funny

6 days – The Countdown Continues with Hannah Gadsby

Most people would know Hannah Gadsby doing this…

And she is doing that, at her show Mrs Chuckles every day at 4.45pm

But, this year Hannah is also using her secret weapon, a degree in Art History and Curatorship at the Australian National University to give you a show that is not only funny but historically acurate, looking at the life of Mary, everyones favourite Virgin.

Sound interesting? Here she is talking about some other art…

Hannah’s guided tours of the collections at the National Gallery Victoria have become one of the must-see cult shows of recent Melbourne Comedy Festival, selling out every time.

And so for this years Edinburgh Fringe, EdCom is proud to present her exclusive show Mary. Contrary. for only 8 Performances

Not interested in art or virgins?

No worries, Hannah is also doing a straight stand-up show called Mrs Chuckles, which has done very well in Australia, winning the prestigious Director’s Award at the 2010 Melbourne Comedy Festival and being

Barry Award-nominated for Best Show at the 2011 Melbourne Comedy Festival (where she had to be moved to a bigger venue following ticket demand), Mrs Chuckles is a tale of mild success and utter failure told in a manner of vague indifference and total incredulity. It is mostly funny and only fleetingly offensive.

So from a comedian that doesn’t smile, and laughs even less, comes a smash-hit show!

“A joy from start to finish” **** (The Age 2011)

 “Piercing razor-sharp wit” **** (Chortle)

“Deadpan, cutting wit…an assured performer” **** (The Scotsman)
