GQ has picked Maff Brown’s Parade of This & Barry Castagnola – Where’s Barry in their 10 Essential Edinburgh Shows 2012
Here’s what they had to say,
3. Maff Brown’s Parade Of This
Brown is one of the most beloved comics on the comedy circuit and is the resident compere ofOutside The Box in Kingston (a perfect but tiny club that plays host to Robin Williams, Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr and Frank Skinner, who recently described Brown as a material machine). This year he’s got his own sketch show directed by We Are Klang’s Marek Larwood. The gags come thick and fast, which is hardly surprising since Brown is a prolific writer for Shooting Starsand Mock The Week. If sketch shows on TV were half this good, BBC3 would have some viewers. Kudos should also go to Laura Lexx who is one of the most delightful performers you’re ever likely to see.

7. Barry Castagnola: Where’s Barry
Barry Castagnola’s show is best enjoyed without fully knowing the premise in advance, but this is in many ways the perfect Edinburgh show. A satire on stand up, comedy agents and much more it is also hysterically funny, fast paced and full of energy. Cameos from some other Edinburgh favourites make this an unmissable show.
